I toured the Great Wall with Lu Xiaolong. It was spectacular, never have I seen bricks so neatly arranged. It's incredible to think that about 500 years men toiled to create this structure we have to…Full review by Demetri B

Hello, I’m looking at going to Jinshanling however I have read somewhere that the buses stop from 15/11/19. We were planning on going 25/11/19. If anyone could give us an idea on how the best way to get there is without using private transfer that would be great!

Make sure that this section is open, I heard that there were renovation works going on. Your hotel/hostel might be able to check this information. I went twice to Jinshanling during the winter, but I was never able to find any shuttle busses, only tour busses. However I decided to go by public bus since it was cheap (~30 rmb one way). There were public buses going to this location from one of the Bus stations in Beijing. I can't remember the name of it, but I found out about it somewhere on google. In the bus station they already know where you want to go (mention the Jinshanling) and they can also tell if the section is open and when the last bus returns. We went early in the morning and got the returning bus at around 4 P.M. It is not a shuttle bus, and the return ticket you have to buy on the bus when going back. You have to walk around 2 km from the place where the public bus takes you to the entrance (it is actually entrance of Simatai section). From there you can either hike 7 km (they say it's seven, but it felt shorter for me) on the wall to the Jinshanling and then come back by van to Simatai or to the bus stand. Getting the van depends on your luck. Once we got a van from the worker at the Simatai entrance for free to the Jinshanling, because the Simatai entrance was closed. Once again, check if any of those two entrances is open now.
