Hello, I went on a Monday and it was busy but if you have been to the museums in London, it was no busier than those. It is an excellent museum...regardless of the crowd, you will not be disappointed. I almost didn't visit this museum and I am so glad that I did! I liked it better than the Prado museum. Also, if you are going in September, it might be after most of the schools have reopened and will be fewer tourist. Just a thought. Enjoy! You will love Madrid!

No need to do anything prior to arrival - we just turned up. There were no huge queues and anyone can get in for free. Well worth a visit - but the 4 hours free isn't really long enough to do …
