No tickets necessary just to visit the square. You could buy one consolidated ticked for all the attractions within the square, should you want to visit them inside. From the outside - is still free.
If you just want to walk in and see the Tower and take photos, what are the hours for that? Same as when the Tower itself is open? Can you just walk around the plaza before the tower opens?
I will be arriving in florence (actually Carmignano) the day before the bridge festival in Pisa. We have four adults and three children. We don't know and can't find info on the tickets, events etc. Need help. Also are concerned with how to get in and out of pisa. We have two cars but are willing to hire a driver if its too crowded. My mother is 81 and walks ok but not arduous sothat is also a concern.thanks millions.

Not sure about tickets but I can talk about driving in Pisa. And my advice is: don't. Leave your car at your hotel and take a taxi. It isn't a big place but it has narrow mediaeval streets, little in the way of parking spaces, and a one way system designed to confuse foreigners. It's also hot and humid so your mum might find it a challenge to walk far. Younger members of the party will probably find it easy to walk. It's a small and flat city.
