There are open top London style buses that run both ways all along the hotels up to the beach. A ticket is £5 and is valid all day for as many journeys as you like. There is a timetable for the buses and it did seem to be reasonably accurate.

I don't think nene184 is describing the restaurant at Playa Pilar, but rather one of the hotels.
