Yes. There are snakes at the refuge. I did not see them, thankfully. Check with the naturalists at the visitor's center so you are informed and know what to look out for. There are …

Yes. There are snakes at the refuge. I did not see them, thankfully. Check with the naturalists at the visitor's center so you are informed and know what to look out for. There are seemingly an infinite number of snake species, and without knowing which are hazardous, and which are native to the area, it is all just a guess. Unless- you are as well-informed as they are. It is truly a beautiful area, especially for enjoying nature. That being said, please be informed and stay safe! Enjoy your trip!

No, unless the tram is running - there is a schedule which I can't recall. I think it's Friday and Saturday. It's a long walk in if you start from the parking lot and then you have to walk back...bikes would be better - and there are places that rent close by. We saw lots of birds and turtles.
