We hired a car and drove from Wellington (nice drive) to look at the place where my father in laws ashes were spread. Such lovely, serene and well kept public gardens - a credit to the gardeners. Full review by RodnJude

We will be passing through around 11th April this year. Is there much in flower at this time of year? How long approximately would it take to view the whole garden, not just the rose garden? Thanks for your help.

There will still be plenty of flowers and it’s a great place to linger and sit, but you can see it in about ten minutes.

The roses start flowering about November, depending on the season. They can carry on blooming until April or May even longer depending on the season. But the peak would be December through March. if the gardeners "dead head" the roses regularly we get a very long flowering season
