There's more wind in the forecast​ and potentially a few inches of snow for parts of Massachusetts on Thursday.

After residents across most of the Bay State wake up to several inches of snow on the ground, meteorologists say the weather is going to take a turn for the worse Sunday as ice accumulates and

The bad news is it's going to stay cold and windy. The good news is Thursday's storm will likely either graze Massachusetts or miss entirely.

"How much snow is actually on the ground by the time the event ends is still kind of a big question mark, since there could be some melting as we change over from snow to rain on Saturday night to Sunday morning," said Robert Megnia, a NWS meteorologist.

The snow will arrive Saturday between 10 p.m. and midnight. Once it arrives, it will hit the ground running. The majority of the snow accumulation will occur between midnight and 7 a.m. on Sunday. There will be some light snow and flurries between 7 a.m. and noon but very little additional accumulation.

Parts of Massachusetts could get 1 to 3 inches of snow and some ice from Wednesday night into Thursday morning, according to the National Weather Service’s Boston office.

Snow is expected to stop in Worcester and the western part of the state before 9 a.m., gradually moving out of eastern Massachusetts by noon. Essex, Suffolk and Middlesex counties in the northeast part of the state may see snow showers through 5 p.m. on Sunday.
