Northwestern University and four other schools are being investigated by the Trump Administration's Department of Education for what it calls "widespread antisemitic harassment" in the wake of large pro-Palestinian protests that broke out on Northwestern's and other campuses last spring.

The U.S. Department of Education is opening an investigation into alleged incidents of antisemitism at Northwestern University.

The Education Department announced Monday that it would conduct investigations at five universities where antisemitic harassment incidents have been reported.

Five universities, including Columbia and Northwestern, are facing new federal probes over antisemitism on their campuses, as the Trump administration looks to pressure higher education institutions into changing their policies.

Following an executive order — signed Jan. 29 — designed to combat antisemitism, the U.S. Department of Education launched investigations into five institutions of higher education today, including Northwestern.
