State and local officials say the X Games, along with the announcement this week of the Red Bull Soapbox Race coming to Salt Lake City in June, further solidifies Utah as a sports destination. The state hosted the Winter Olympics in 2002 and will do it again in 2034.

The X Games are coming to Salt Lake City. The extreme sports league will host its Moto X, BMX and skateboarding events at the Utah State Fairpark this summer. It will take place on June 27-29 with tickets going on sale next month.

Salt Lake City will be hosting ESPN’s X Games this upcoming summer at the Utah State Fairpark. In a Thursday press conference, officials announced that X Games will be bringing Moto X, BMX, and skateboarding competitions to the Beehive State as part of a three-day event starting June 27.

Thursday's announcement comes as X Games celebrates its 30th anniversary. It also comes a day after Red Bull announced it would host one of its soapbox derby events in Salt Lake City for the first time in June. Utah Gov. Spencer Cox called that an example of how Utah is quickly becoming a "state of extreme sport."
