If the city’s school system has its way, Winchester’s eight-year practice of having fifth-grade students enrolled in intermediate school will soon be ending.

Conroe ISD officials said the district's virtual school, which launched in 2022, has an uncertain future as its funding expires this year following a waiver signed by Gov. Greg Abbott in 2023.
