ANSONIA, Conn. (WFSB) - Part of Route 8 was closed after a 20-year-old was hit by a pickup truck on Friday night. According to state police, Jaiden Andreiz Ragsdale, age 20, was stopped in the left lane for an unknown reason. Police suspected that Ragsdale was standing next to his car. At the same time, a truck collided with the stopped car.

ANSONIA – A 20-year-old Bridgeport man was hospitalized with life-threatening injuries after a crash on Route 8 southbound on Friday (Feb. 7).

Serious injuries were reported after a pedestrian was struck on Route 8 in Ansonia Friday evening, Connecticut State Police said.

The crash occurred on Route 8 southbound near Exit 15 around 8:53 p.m. Friday. Route 8 southbound is currently closed for investigation.

A man who was standing outside of his vehicle on Route 8 South in Ansonia on Friday night has serious injuries after being struck by a separate vehicle that was driving on the highway. State police said a 20-year-old man from Stratford had stopped his vehicle in the left lane of the highway shortly before 9 p.

Route 8 southbound is closed on Friday night due to a pedestrian vs. vehicle crash, according to the Department of Transportation (DOT). The highway is closed between exits 15 and 13. State police said that it was a multi-car accident involving a pedestrian strike and that serious injuries have been reported
