A woman is dead after a fire erupted at an apartment building in Shafer, according to the Chisago County Sheriff's Office.

A woman was found dead following an apartment fire in Shafer, Minnesota on Sunday evening. The Chisago County Sheriff's Office says it was called to a multi-united residential building at 30375 Redwing Ave. shortly before 10 p.m., with multiple 911 callers reporting heavy black smoke coming from the building.

Just before 10 p.m. Sunday, 911 workers began receiving calls of heavy, black smoke coming from an apartment building in Shafer, Minnesota.
