An illegal immigrant from Guatemala was apprehended by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) earlier this month, who is facing multiple child rape charges.

ICE did not say why it had not previously sought to detain Jose Fernando-Perez, who was placed on house arrest in 2022.
