IPS began tearing down the historic Joyce Kilmer School 69 and plans to rebuild it over the next two years into the district's new high ability school.
The $35-million facility is being funded through the $410 million Rebuilding Stronger capital referendum approved by voters in 2023.
IPS estimates the cost of construction to be $35 million and plans to open the school for the 2027-28 school year. The new, 68,000-square-foot school will be able to serve 650 students.
