In an exclusive interview with Meet the Press, Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem details how the Trump administration plans to utilize Guantanamo Bay as a temporary detention facility for deported migrants.

Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem said illegal immigrants sent to Guantanamo Bay won’t be housed there indefinitely. “That is not the plan,” Noem said during an appearance on NBC’s Meet the Press on Sunday when asked.

WASHINGTON (TNND) — Department of Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem on Thursday joined Fox News to announce United States military prison Guantanamo Bay would soon be prepared to house illegal migrants who had been deported form the country.

“It's been there for decades. So, we're just going to expand upon the existing migrant center,” Homan said. The base has been used in the past to house Cuban and Haitian migrants and there is a small facility on the Naval base at Guantanamo known as the Migrant Operations Center.

Department of Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem refused to rule out housing women, children, and families at the Guantanamo Bay detention camp. During a Sunday interview on Meet the Press, host Kristen Welker asked Noem about President Donald Trump's plan to expand Gitmo detention facilities for immigrants and migrants.
