Interim Manhattan US Attorney Danielle Sassoon resigned from her position as the city’s chief federal prosecutor after she was ordered by the Justice Department to drop a corruption case against New York Mayor Eric Adams.

The stunning development comes amid widespread speculation as to whether she would follow through on the directive and after Trump placed her in the top job role in an acting capacity.
