Jayette Bolinski, a spokesperson with the Illinois Department of Natural Resources, said the Nashville City Reservoir Dam functioned the way it was supposed to function following heavy rain.

In Nashville, Illinois, about eight inches of rain fell in a matter of hours, causing the city reservoir to overflow the dam. This caused massive flooding to homes and several businesses.
