Porsche is testing an electric variant of the Cayenne SUV, which will live alongside the gas-powered model and spawn a streamlined coupe variant.

Porsche is developing an electric Cayenne on the advanced PPE modular platform, and it will give rise to a sleek and dynamic Cayenne Coupe variant.

Porsche’s Cayenne Electric has been spotted testing with a fastback Coupe design. Spy photographers previously captured the 2027 EV with an upright SUV body. The Cayenne Electric twins ride on a stretched version of the PPE architecture.

The 718 family’s internal combustion-driven models were scheduled to be phased out in summer 2025 and replaced by electric versions of the sports cars, according to the Automotive News Future Product Pipeline. That target is in doubt, according to Automobilwoche.

Porsche is close to launching its first electric sports car, but rather than start with the iconic 911, Porsche will initially add battery power to the 718 Boxster and Cayman. A prototype for the electric Cayman has now been spotted for the first time.
