Two tourists have died from suspected pesticide poisoning after their hostel in Sri Lanka was fumigated for bedbugs, Britain’s PA Media news agency has reported.

Two young foreign women died after feeling sick in their hostel in Colombo, Sri Lanka's capital. There is suspicion that their deaths may be linked to their rooms being sprayed down for insects.

Ebony McIntosh, 24, from Derby, was taken to hospital in Colombo after falling ill with vomiting and breathing difficulties on Saturday - but died there hours later.

The tourists, both women, a 24-year-old Briton and a 26-year-old German, were discovered sick in their hostel rooms in the capital Colombo.
