The United Federation of Teachers will require any mayoral candidate seeking its endorsement to teach in a public school classroom for a day, as a dozen candidates compete in the race.

Participating by no means guarantees a candidate will ultimately receive the UFT’s endorsement. That process is lengthy, starting with a questionnaire, which will likely go out some time next month.
