(eXit button) Also called a "close" or "exit" button, clicking or tapping the X removes the current window, dialog box or popup message from the screen. It is also used to delete text and graphics.
Early prototypes of the mouse featured a rectangular wooden shell with two metal wheels inside – one for the X axis and one for the Y axis. The device had just one button, located in the top corner.
