Icy roadways are impacting morning commuters after overnight freezing rain and leftover drizzles. A winter weather advisory was in effect early Thursday morning. By midday, ice will thaw as temperatures rise to around 40 degrees.

Icy conditions continue to cause travel hazards across Chicago this morning, but sunshine and warmer afternoon temperatures will help melt the ice before another storm system arrives Saturday.

National Weather Service officials said the freezing drizzle and icy conditions in the Chicago area are expected to end as temperatures rise to the low 40s Thursday.
