Vancouver star Quinn Hughes was ruled out of the 4 Nations Face-Off on Sunday because of an undisclosed injury, with fellow defenseman Jake Sanderson taking his spot on the U.S. roster.

Quinn Hughes, who has missed four straight games for the Canucks with what is speculated to be a lower-body injury, will not play for the U.S. in the 4 Nations Face-Off, his team announced Sunday, and will be replaced by Jake Sanderson of the Senators.

Vancouver Canucks defenseman Quinn Hughes, last year's Norris Trophy winner, will miss the 4 Nations Face-Off with an injury.

Hughes leads all NHL defensemen in points (59) and assists (45) and is third in goals (14). Among defenseman who have played at least 10 games this season, he’s fourth in average time on ice at 25:18, which would be second on the Team USA roster to Zach Werenski of the Columbus Blue Jackets (26:48).

The Vancouver Canucks have been without star defenseman Quinn Hughes for their last four games. Hughes suffered an injury during their January 31st contest against the Dallas Stars. The injury threw his status for the upcoming 4 Nations Face-Off tournament in doubt.
