LOS ANGELES — Players from the top-ranked UCLA women’s basketball team were scattered around the Mo Ostin Center on Friday morning, each cradling a black-and-white composition book.

In 2011, he donated $10 million to UCLA for a new facility called the Evelyn and Mo Ostin Music Center. Ostin’s wife, Evelyn, and two of his sons, Randy and Kenny, preceded him in death.
