Wu revived her effort to soften tax increases for residential property owners in January, refiling a property tax proposal she spent the majority of last year battling to get to the finish line.

Wu, who is facing a challenge by Josh Kraft in this year's mayoral race, recently slammed Kraft's characterization of the policy, calling it "fake rent control."

Wu's plan would shift the property tax burden onto commercial real estate, away from homeowners. It now heads to the State House, where two previous versions died last year.
