These are the “unheralded” heroes of human culture; the extraordinary things ... We are, as humans, an unbroken chain. Our lives are connected to the land and the animals.

I think this can be interpreted as a rejection of the great chain of being, because there is no question of “more” or “less” perfect being. Exposing human otherness does not mean positioning it above ...
