Forecasters from AccuWeather say confidence is growing that next week's storm could be an all-snow event in the New Jersey region.

North Jersey is expected to receive a one-two punch of hazardous weather beginning with a snowstorm Saturday evening that switches over to sleet and freezing rain by early Sunday morning, meteorologists said.

Winter 2024-25 has felt very busy so far. There have been nine storms that dropped at least two inches of snow/sleet somewhere in New Jersey. (Plus a few more icing events and minor snow storms.) Plus, it has been excessively cold, resulting in the state's coldest January in a decade.

At Ace Hardware in Turnersville, New Jersey, on Wednesday, customers were trying to do their best to get ahead of Thursday's winter weather. The most popular item for shoppers was ice melt. Many said they didn't want to take any chances with the icy conditions.

The Jersey Shore remains under a winter weather advisory on Saturday with a storm expected to bring snow, freezing rain and potentially treacherous driving conditions. Monmouth and Ocean counties are expected to see one to two inches of snow and a tenth of an inch of sleet beginning around 4 p.

The National Weather Service maintains New York City will receive 3 to 5 inches of accumulation with this winter storm.

The final month of meteorological winter looks to be fairly active with several chances of snow and ice from the Ohio Valley to the Northeast. On the southern end of the frontal boundaries, heavy rainfall and thunderstorms will be likely across the Gulf Coast.
