The PS2 might still be the best selling console of all time, but almost eight years after its launch, the Nintendo Switch continues to close the gap, with Nintendo now confirming that it shipped over 150 million units as of the end of last year.

Sales of Nintendo Switch have now passed the 150 million mark, according to Nintendo's latest financial results. The firm released its quarterly results today revealing that it has now sold 150.86 million Switches worldwide since the system launched in March 2017.

Nintendo is caught between its eight-year-old Switch console and the next-gen Switch 2 — a purgatory that usually hits sales.

While all the attention is currently on the Switch 2, now that Nintendo has confirmed its existence, the original Switch is still humming along as it tries to overthrow the PlayStation 2 as the best-selling

Nintendo president Shuntaro Furukawa spoke to the press for the first time since the Nintendo Switch 2 was announced and he has gone on the record to say that the company has made preparations for the launch of the Nintendo Switch 2 that should hopefully combat scalpers.

Nintendo has confirmed it's putting "measures" in place to ensure the Switch 2 launch won't be spoiled by scalpers and resellers.
