A gem merchant in Nivithigala has found a blue sapphire in the shape of Sri Lanka. The gem merchant Rohan Wasantha Dissanayake of NIvithigala said he bought it from a gem miner in the Karavita area.
The owner said he named the stone "Star of Adam" because local legend says Sri Lanka's world-famous blue sapphires were formed by the tears of Adam after God expelled him from Paradise.
