President Donald Trump’s tariffs against Canada and Mexico will threaten production at automakers across North America and send record vehicle prices even higher, with about a quarter of a trillion dollars in trade set to be disrupted.

President Trump’s new tariffs on goods from Canada, Mexico and China are likely to result in higher prices for lots of products, including computers, tequila and gas.

Automakers are likely to suffer a blow from the Trump administration’s tariffs because many manufacture cars in Mexico or Canada and export them to the U.S. Billions of dollars of car parts also flow between the three countries as part of an integrated supply chain.
