A recall has been issued for just shy of 34,000 pounds of beef tallow because it was not federally inspected and the producer was not authorized to produce food, according to the U.S. Department of Agriculture's Food Safety and Inspection Service.

Common Sense Soap and Lady May Tallow products were processed without USDA inspection and distributed to wholesalers and retailers across the country.

About a week after the USDA recalled more than 30,000 pounds of beef tallow due to a labeling issue, sales of the product have resumed, the company's owner told Fox News Digital.

The recall was initiated after FSIS was notified by a local health department that Lady May Tallow had contracted Common Sense Soap to process, package, and label the recalled product, which does not bear a USDA mark of inspection.

According to the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA), about 33,899 pounds of beef tallow that was processed, packaged and labeled on behalf of Ocean Springs-based company Lady May Tallow is being recalled.
