When you’re a baby, anything you do is cause for celebration. Steve Lafeve, who oversees the Oregon Zoo’s elephant area, said so himself when reporters flocked to the zoo Monday morning to meet Rose-Tu and her new baby.

The Oregon Zoo in Portland has welcomed a new baby elephant. Thirty-year-old Asian elephant Rose-Tu gave birth at the zoo last weekend after 20 months of pregnancy.

The Oregon Zoo announced a 30-year-old Asian elephant gave birth to a healthy baby girl after more than 20 months of pregnancy.
