The 88-year-old pontiff, who has been battling health problems for years, is expected to remain hospitalized in Rome, the Vatican said.
The 2,000-year-old basilica was “once the beating heart of Roman London,” the Museum of London Archaeology said.
The pontiff was also expected to undergo "necessary diagnostic tests" at the Policlinico Agostino Gemelli in Rome.
Critics say that the Archdiocese of Santa Fe’s roster of “credibly accused” priests should be longer — by 59 names — but the church currently has no intention of adding them.
