By signing deals with India’s two biggest telecom players, the tech tycoon and Trump adviser has improved his odds of breaking into an enormous market.

Ambani's Jio Platforms announced that it would bring Starlink into India, opening doors to the world's largest consumer market.

The deals with Reliance Jio and Bharti Airtel, which together control more than 70% of India’s telecom market, could help bring internet connections to millions of people who live in remote areas.

Elon Musk’s Starlink is set to launch in India through partnerships with Airtel and Jio, pending government approval, aiming to expand satellite internet to remote areas.

Airtel and SpaceX have partnered to bring Starlink’s high-speed internet to India. Owned by Elon Musk’s SpaceX, Starlink is an internet satellite service that lets users enjoy high speed internet even in the most remote and inaccessible regions of the world.

Gopal Vittal, Managing Director and Vice Chairman, Bharti Airtel, said, “Working with SpaceX to offer Starlink to Airtel customers in India is a significant milestone”

While the Starlink application remains under consideration, Mukesh Ambani’s Reliance Jio and Elon Musk have clashed over how the country should grant spectrum for satellite services.

This is the first agreement to be signed in India, which is subject to SpaceX receiving its own authorisations to sell Starlink in India,’ Airtel said in a media note
