Red Bull Formula One boss Christian Horner has expressed support for an eventual return to V10 engines despite his team spending heavily on designing their own power unit for the new era starting in 2026.

FIA President Mohammed Ben Sulayem has suggested that Formula 1 should be open to multiple options for its next engine regulations, including a potential return to V10s. Formula 1 has not used V10 engines for almost two decades, with the units phased out after 2005, and dropped entirely after 2006.
