Rebecca Marodi, a Cal Fire captain stationed in Riverside County, was found stabbed to death inside of her own home in Ramona on Monday evening, authorities said.

A new prescribed burn, called Palomar Mountain Piles Wcsl, was initiated 12:10 p.m. Jan. 8 in San Diego County. The prescribed fire has been burning on federal land managed by the United States Forest Service for more than a month.

Deputies from the San Diego Sheriff's Office found Rebecca Marodi, 49, in her home with multiple stab wounds on Monday. She died at the scene.
