Vt. Supreme Court dismisses ed secretary appointment case
The Vermont Supreme Court has dismissed an appeal by Vermont lawmakers objecting to Gov. Phil Scotts’s interim appointment of Education Secretary Zoie Saunders.
In the appeal dismissal, the judge said that "this latter appointment superseded the earlier appointment and is plainly consistent with the process for 'recess appointments'.
Two state lawmakers sued the governor last year after he appointed Zoie Saunders to serve as an interim secretary following the Vermont Senate’s rejection of her permanent appointment.
A lawsuit filed against Agency of Education Secretary Zoie Saunders and Gov. Phil Scott has been dismissed by the Vermont Supreme Court, according to a Friday decision.
