Several Montreal-area school boards and institutions are announcing closures as one of the biggest storms of the season cloaks the city in snow. Hundreds of flights out of Montreal have also been cancelled.

Major snowfall disrupted travel plans, closed schools and shuttered city services in parts of Ontario, Quebec and the Atlantic provinces Thursday, as communities dug out from upwards of 20 centimetres and the storm headed deeper into Eastern Canada.

A large portion of Ontario, from the Temiskaming-Temagami area in the north to the Sarnia area in the south, is under a snowfall warning, as is the southern half of Quebec

Storm Warning remains in effect for Montreal and most of southern Quebec. Radar is showing at least a few more hours of steady precipitation to our southwest that will move through the Montreal region through midday.
