Salt Lake City Mayor Erin Mendenhall shared a positive update to the city's Public Safety Plan on Monday, saying the Salt Lake City Police Department has made 460 arrests since Jan. 12.

Utah Legislature is starting off with a bit of tension between Salt Lake City and state leaders on what comes next after state leaders demanded Mayor Erin Mendenhall improve “public safety” in her city — or else the Legislature could step in.

The Ballpark announcement came during the mayor’s annual State of the City address, hosted this year at downtown’s Main Library. Mendenhall noted the renovation underway on the library’s rooftop terrace, one of dozens of improvement projects in progress, recently completed or funded to soon begin on public assets throughout the east and west sides.
