May 28, 2009 · H414 is a lot slower powder then any of the powders I have used in the 7.62X54R. If you are looking for an accurate target load to shoot holes in paper, I would definitely recommend a much faster powder in the SR-4759, Al 2400 or AA5744 burn range. It will work better and you will need only about 1/2 as much powder.

Aug 22, 2018 · I've been shooting the 7.62x54R since the mid '60s, cast in the cartridge since the mid '70s. In CBA Military Rifle Matches (Phoenix, AZ) I've been shooting my SAKO built Finn M39. It is quite accurate with the 314299 (either Lyman or NOE) cast of #2 Alloy. I load the weight selected bullets in Norma cases over 28.5 gr 4895 and use a Dacron filler.

Aug 18, 2009 · I've been loading jacketed (.308 - .312) and cast (.311 - .316) in the 7.62x54R for numerous MN rifles (currently have 4) and carbines since '68. All have enough difference in chamber size that the use of a FL die leads to very short case life. I began NSing and keeping cases rifle specific years ago and seldom lose a case these days.

Lee lists a cast load in 30-06 for a 190 gr bullet with BL-C(2) on page 155 of their 2nd edition. 36 grains and under is less than 1/2 case full and I wouldn't go there with ball powder. 37 grains in the 30-06 yields 2040 fps @ 34,100 psi. 42 grains yields 2270 fps @ 44,600 psi.

Apr 8, 2011 · Jerry, I have been using the Ranch Dog TLC-311-165RF in 303 British with good results at the range. My mold drops them out at312.5 andI size them to 312. Ammo Guide shows the 303 and the 7.62X54R very similar and was going to use them in that as well as soon as I get some reloadable brass.

Measured pressure remained consistent as with the same load in factory boxer primed cases. The size of the flash hole(s) has no affect on the pressure. Oct 18, 2009 · Yes 6 grains would be correct in the 7.62x39, and 8 grs. if good in the 7.62x54R. Would not be afraid to try 9 grs. of 231 in the 7.62x54R if the plainbased bullet doesn't lead. Have used as much as 13 grs. in the big Russian with a 162-grain GC bullet, similar to the red Dot load.
