Tactical Emergency Medical Support is the provision of preventative urgent and emergent medical care during high-risk, extended duration and mission-driven law enforcement special operations.

Tactical Emergency medical services (TEMS) is out-of-hospital care given in hostile situations by specially trained practitioners. Tactical support provided through TEMS can be applied in either the civilian world, generally with special law enforcement teams such as SWAT and SERT, as well as with military special operations teams. In 2014 the Menlo Park Fire District officially joined the San Mateo County TEMS team. This regional team is comprised of and supported by select county fire agencies and AMR.
