Treebeard didn't have to know that Saruman had taken to cutting down living trees in Fangorn Forest. There is no reason to assume Treebeard has been near Isengard recently.

I can't tell what pippen is thinking but you can tell he had an epiphany of sorts and asked to go to Isengard.
