Rodri is playing for a great City team, but they do not compare to those Barcelona teams when comparing individuals. I feel Busquets career is so far better than Rodri’s, but I think Rodri is as good a player as him. I feel Busquets was amazing, but players like Keane and Vieira were as good or better than him.

Rodri being more important to that City team is the logical conclusion. Now you can argue that him being more important makes him better, but that I would disagree with also. I think Rodri is more important because of Pep's system requiring a DM, but they only have Rodri. Let me elaborate on that before you try to call me stupid though.

If you like the more traditional destroyer type defensive midfielders you’ll probably swing towards Casemiro. If you like the type of defensive midfielders who are the conductors of their team then you’ll probably swing towards Rodri

Jan 20, 2023 · Rodri and Casemiro are definitely the 2 best DMs in the world. This was certainly a conversation when Casemiro was at Madrid. Fact of the matter is that they play completely different styles and have totally different strengths. Rodri wouldn’t do as well at United as Casemiro is doing, and Casemiro wouldn’t do as well as Rodri is doing at City.

His short passing, composure, physicality and ability to break opposition's press make him an asset to have. Here is a scouting report from fbref. You'll see Rodri is an elite passer and a very good ball Progressor and carrier. His all round play isn't so bad either.
