The words "Great Seal of the State of Arizona" and the year of admission to the United States, 1912, is written around the seal. The state's key enterprises at the time; mining, ranching, farming and climate; are symbolized on the face of the seal.

The current Yavapai County seal was re-designed in 1974 by local resident, Kit Carson – no relation to the famous Kit Carson. The seal depicts the Rough Rider statue, Thumb Butte, a ponderosa pine tree and the former Governor’s Mansion.

Dec 10, 2024 · The seal was created due to the construction of the Finance Corporation of America building in Phoenix, which wanted to set bronze plaques set in the seals of all fourteen Arizona counties, as well as the state seal, in the building's lobby floor.

The board of supervisors may adopt rules for the use of the county seal or any facsimile, copy, likeness, imitation or other resemblance of the county seal, including rules for the use of the county seal for official county business.

Secretary Hobbs affixes the Great Seal of the State of Arizona, stamped in gold, with her attestation, to public instruments to which the official signature of the governor is attached under A.R.S. § 41-121(4). The office is required under the law to be the official keeper of the state seal.

The seal of the superior courts of the several counties of the State, until otherwise provided by law, shall be the vignette of Abraham Lincoln, with the words "Seal of the Superior Court of _____ County, State of Arizona, surrounding the vignette.

The County Seal. The Yavapai County seal became a registered trademark in 2007. Pursuant to A.R.S. §11-251.17, use of a county seal is restricted to those users authorized by a county’s Board of Supervisors. On June 15, 2015, Resolution No. 1908 (PDF, 172KB) was adopted establishing procedures for use of the county seal.
