Bird is around a head taller than Stockton and that's like 9-10 inches, so Bird must be 6'10" or a little over 6'10" and Magic is around a little over 6'8". Maybe sometimes players just get listed with their height without shoes or height with it. They also increase or decrease their height just to fit the position they want to play in.

Sep 10, 2021 · Bird is one of the greatest shooters ever though and averaged 24ppg for his career. 3 seasons with 28ppg. Not to mention averaging 10 reb, nearly 2 steals and a block per game. Also, Magic was athletic. Dude was quick and agile and had hops. Bird wasn't crazy athletic, but I think people today overstate that he wasn't athletic.

Larry Bird was almost definitely the best white player of his era, and a lot of people remember him as "the best white guy" so to speak, in an era dominated by black players like Magic Johnson and Michael Jordan just to name a few.

As a player, I rate Larry Bird's career above Bill Russell's. However, in the specific context of the Celtics franchise, it is indisputably Bill Russell. I mean, the dude won 11 championships in his 13 seasons as a player.

When modern wing defenders arrived (Pippen), Larry already messed his back. Current NBA has more players to defend Larry than in 80s. Still both will fit. If I'm small market team I'll take Bird, easier to build.

The center gets a look, and kicks the ball out to Bird, who is on the 3 point line, wide open. My job is now to get infront of Bird before he gets a shot off.

Their game was effective and efficient without a lot of wasted movement, motion or dribbling. Bird was the size of a power forward but typically/mostly played small forward.

Larry Bird was a basketball genius/triple double wizard with the height and body of a power forward. Does that sound kinda familiar? If you want a modern context, take David Lee as a starting point with his height, build, athleticism, ability to bang for rebounds, and ability to score around the basket.
