The beauty of Alaska awaits. An important collection of Russian Orthodox art and rare church treasures. Built in 1844-48, the church was totally destroyed by fire in January of 1966.

Russian Orthodox Sacred Sites in Alaska (ROSSIA) is dedicated to the preservation of Alaska’s Russian Orthodox Churches and iconography Alaska’s Russian-American history has a lasting impression with more than 35 historic churches throughout the state.

This outstanding example of Russian church architecture was by far the largest and most imposing religious edifice in Alaska until well into the 20th century. The present cathedral is a reconstruction of the original building which burned to the ground in January 1966.
