The Intel Core i7-12700K is a desktop processor with 12 cores, launched in November 2021, at an MSRP of $409. It is part of the Core i7 lineup, using the Alder Lake-S architecture with Socket 1700. Intel Hyper-Threading technology is available and effectly doubles the core-count of the P-Cores, to a total of 20 threads.

Dec 20, 2023 · My 12700K also runs @ 5Ghz on all P-Cores, I wouldn't really call it an overclock though, I just enabled "Enhanced Multi-Core Performance" in the BIOS which causes to run all 8-P cores to fully boost @ 5Ghz instead the usual 1-P core boosting to 5Ghz @ stock, but nevertheless it's nice as long as you got good CPU cooling (Noctua NH-U12A).

Dec 19, 2024 · is the 12700k using DDR4 or DDR5 RAM? what kind of GPU, monitor and refresh rate? what kind of games and performance are you looking for? personally, the 12700k is still a very good CPU so I would hold off unless you were chasing high FPS and going from a DDR4 to DDR5 platform and had a GPU and monitor that could show off those high FPS numbers
