The 155 mm gun M1 was a 155 millimeter caliber field gun developed and used by the United States military. Nicknamed "Long Tom" (an appellation with a long and storied history in U.S. field and naval artillery), it was produced in M1 and M2 variants, later known as the M59.

The M1A1 “Long Tom” became the standard Corps Gun both the Army and Marines and remained virtually unchanged except for the M2 having a simpler breech ring installed. It went on to serve well after WW2 as the M59 Gun.

The newly designed 155-mm gun measured 22 feet, 10.7 inches long (not including the breech), weighed 9,200 pounds, and could fire a 95-pound projectile over 26,000 yards.
