The Great Western Railway (GWR) 4200 Class is a class of 2-8-0 T steam locomotives. After the GWR took over operations and then absorbed the various South Wales based railways from the late 1800s, operational practice on most was defined by moving heavy coal trains on sharp, steep and undulating tracks.

The overhaul on former GWR 42XX Class 2-8-0T No. 4277 "Hercules" has just been completed and the locomotive has been turned out in British Railways Black livery. No. 4277 will soon undergo testing and running in trials before entering service at the Dartmouth Steam Railway during the summer season.

Railway welcomes visiting steam locomotive “Hercules”
The North Norfolk Railway has welcomed visiting engine No. 4277 “Hercules” in readiness for the re-opening of the line for its half term running from 17 – 25 February. The engine made the long trip from her usual home at the Paignton & Dartmouth Steam Railway in South Devon and arrived at Sheringham Station on February 6.
