The QF 3-pounder Hotchkiss or in French use Canon Hotchkiss à tir rapide de 47 mm were a family of long-lived light 47 mm naval guns introduced in 1886 to defend against new, small and fast vessels such as torpedo boats and later submarines.

Jun 25, 2009 · The 47mm Mle1937 AT gun fires the 'obus de rupture Mle1936'. The Mle1936 APCBC shell has a magnesium ballistic cap screwed on the APC. It produces a white smoke during the flight of the projectile, replacing somewhat tracer shells.

Mar 13, 2007 · Almost all Italian AFVs with 47mm guns used the 47 L/32, which I believe was the Bohler. I also have data on a 47mm L/40 Italian tank gun round, which was very much bigger - the case measured 328mm long and fired a 1.5 kg projectile at 820 m/s (compared with 630 m/s for the 47mm L/32).

Mar 23, 2017 · Here is my new favorite round in the collection. It is an Italian 47/32 mm Effetto Pronto/HEAT/Hollow Charge. Mr. Fuze auctioned it off on GunBroker in the US. It was not inexpensive due to stiff bidding.

Sep 24, 2024 · The dimensions of shells etc. as follows- The 47mm copper shell is 170mm including fuze and case rim 55.35mm. The nose vented fuze is graduated to 22sec. No I.D. number. The 37mm coper coated shell is 138mm long and the rim diameter 47.14mm.

Apr 22, 2005 · On the French side, the Laffly W15 TCC (tank destroyer) was really deadly against German tanks with its 47mm L/53 and the Mle1936 APCBC shells, still 72mm/0° at 1000m according to French tests. The best French tank gun is the 47mm SA35 L/32 which is superior to the German tank guns.
